About
Spring Rise Community Gardens is a learning on the land initiative, developing into a resource from the ground up for the local community to learn about and celebrate local and sustainable food, craft and culture.
In order to best meet our aims, the land is being developed into a ecologically diverse, 4-seasons resource for learning with biodynamic principles at the core. Spring Rise currently plays host to a vegetable and flower garden, fruit trees, soft fruit, forest garden, and tree nursery which provide valuable experience and learning opportunities for all.
We are very grateful to have received some grant funding in order to reach more members of the community and to support the learning potential of Spring Rise during our start-up phase. Thanks to the National Lottery Awards for All, Heritage Lottery Fund, Local Connections and Sussex Community Foundation, we are well on our way.
We look forward to meeting you on the land. Stay tuned for updates as we develop our programme of events, workshops, and other opportunities for you to make use of this vibrant and inspiring space. Some of these will include:
-seasonal biodynamic growing, cooking and processing
-bushcraft and forest school
-regular events in celebration of our local and sustainable community; food, music, storytelling, and craft, to name a few.
There will also be the opportunity to hire the space to run your own workshops or events. Spring Rise is equipped with:
-compost toilets
-covered outdoor shelter
-outdoor kitchen and bread oven
-(and will soon have) a 7 metre bell tent on a hardwood platform with a stove to provide a warm indoor space to shelter from the elements.
